2002 Gujarat riots: Former IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt sent to police remand till July 20

AHMEDABAD: Additional chief metropolitan magistrate, M V Chauhan, on Wednesday remanded former IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt to custodial interrogation till July 20 in connection with the FIR lodged by the city crime branch on charges of fabricating evidence of conspiracy behind the 2002 riots.

After obtaining Bhatt’s custody from Palanpur jail, the special investigation team (SIT) sought 14-day remand of him to find out more about the alleged conspiracy with social activist Teesta Setalvad and former DGP R B Sreekumar, who were arrested on June 25.
