LUCKNOW: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the home department to fill up 20% of the vacancies in UP home guards department with women candidates in the next 100 days. The home departmenthas been told to prepare a proposal in this regard.The home guards department contributes significantly in maintaining peace and internal security.
The central government has approved 1.18 lakh home guards volunteers for UP, of which 1,151 companies (785 rural and 366 urban) including 25 women companies and 60 independent women platoons have been formed.
A senior home department official said recruitment of women home guards will significantly help in reducing crime against women in the state. "Recruitment of women home guards will bolster the security apparatus," said the official.
The government has also issued guidelines to fill all the vacant posts of home guards in a phased manner over the next four years.
The government is working fast to increase the number of women in goverment jobs. An official said that on the instructions of CM Yogi Adityanath plan is being readied to recruit more than one lakh people in the state every year.
