The month of January can be a little grim but don’t despair as there’s lots to look forward to.

After the highs of Christmas and the festive season, the first month of the new year can feel a little bit flat. So, we’ve been trying our best to highlight all the great things we have to come in 2023.

From huge events to new openings, there’s many exciting things coming over the next 12 months. To put this list together, we’ve used recent award-winners and nominees from across the city. You’ll find all kinds of cuisines to suit budgets of all sizes.

Michelin approved

In December, we brought you the latest list of Yorkshire entries in the Prestigious Michelin Guide. As you'd expect, we have representation from Leeds.

Those picked by the Michelin accessor cover all kinds of wonderful cuisines. Also, there’s entries to suit all pockets.

    Yorkshire is blessed with a multitude of amazing Indian restaurants and curry houses. The 2022 British Curry Awards celebrated the very best from our region with Leeds entries featuring.

    New openings

    Of course, alongside old favourites, there’s always a host of new openings coming. Below are just some of the new venues which have launched in Leeds in recent months as well as a few scheduled for later this year:

    • Jamrock Caribbean restaurant due to open later in 2023 in Kirkgate
    • NQ64 retro arcade bar expected to launch in 2023
