CHANDIGARH: Two suicides were reported in the city in the past 24 hours.
Anchal, 18, allegedly hanged herself with a dupatta from a ceiling fan at her house in Mauli village. Anchal lived with her parents in a rented accommodation. On finding her hanging, they sounded the police, who took her to GMSH-16, where she was declared dead on arrival. The body has been kept in the mortuary for postmortem.
In the other case, a 13-year-old girl was found hanging from an iron rod at her house in Sector 52. Police said, “Her parents are snack vendors and she used to help them. The incident came to light when her brother went to the rooftop and saw her. He raised the alarm and their parents called the police. The autopsy will be performed at GMSH-16.”
Police have initiated inquest proceedings in both the cases. TNN
