JAIPUR: Rajasthan ACB on Wednesday unearthed a major bribery racket at Rajasthan Housing Board and arrested an assistant administrative officer and a junior assistant for taking a bribe of Rs 30,000.
DG (ACB) B L Soni said a complainant had alleged that junior assistant Mohan Singh and assistant administrative officer Ram Kishore Meena were demanding a bribe of Rs 30,000 to prepare a registry format for two of the complainant’s houses and also to send the same file to the registrar office in Kotputli.
The complainant alleged that the two officials were regularly exerting pressure on him for bribes for registry work. He finally decided to approach the ACB.
The ACB teams verified the complaint and laid a trap, arrested both the accused.
According to police, Mohan Singh is a resident of Ajmer district and is currently posted in the housing board’s Jagatpura office. Meena is a resident of Sirsi Road and Singh was taking the bribe on the former’s behalf.
ACB teams were conducting searches at different houses of the two accused. Soni said that the investigation into the case is underway as per the provisions of the prevention of corruption act.
