£2.4 million restaurant and venue opens at Edinburgh Park

A new bar and restaurant has opened its doors today at Edinburgh Park.

The launch marks the second phase of the venue’s opening, with Patina's in-house bakery being operational since 7 October.

The new space consists of a restaurant, bar and music venue, backed by £2.4m of private investment.

The funding has covered the fit out of the 10,000 sq ft venue, as well as kitchen, bakery and audio visual equipment, custom artwork and finishing touches such as a grand piano.

55 jobs have been created to facilitate the running of the venue, which has capacity for 260 diners at any one time. The space has been leased by Patina for 25 years.

Co-owner and managing director Richard Cullen said: “While currently known for being a business hub, Edinburgh Park’s future is prosperous, and we are delighted to be part of this part of the city’s transformation.

“Our sister venue, Kiln, situated in Newcastle’s thriving suburb of Ouseburn, is full of professionals, families, businesses and boasts a flourishing foodie scene.

“Having transformed the food scene here, we’re excited to be a foundational part of what we see as a burgeoning new cultural quarter in Edinburgh, leading the way and producing the food we love.”

The parent company is jointly owned by Cullen, Geffen Yoeli-Rimmer, John Nugent and Peter Millican. The latter two are also founders of Green and Fortune and Daffodil Mulligan.

Patina is housed on the ground floor of 1 New Park Square, a net zero emissions building created by architects Allford Hall Monaghan Morris.

Cullen continued: “One of the many appealing features of Edinburgh Park is that it’s on the city’s bike and tram network and has an infrastructure that focuses on sustainability.

“It’s one of our key values and something that we’ll continue to uphold, from the local sourcing of food to our future plans to work with urban farms across the city.”
