Microsoft has unveiled a new console in its hardware lineup with the Xbox Series S 1TB model and it's even switching up the colour from the standard white to black.
The Carbon Black 1TB Xbox Series S was unveiled at the Xbox Showcase during Summer Game Fest and as well as offering a slightly different aesthetic to the existing white Xbox Series S, it bumps up the storage significantly. At the moment, Microsoft's smaller, less powerful sibling of the Xbox Series X comes with 512GB storage but only 364GB of that is useable for games.
Bearing in mind the size of games these days, like Call of Duty, which can weigh in at 300GB, that's not a lot to work with. Especially for an all-digital console. Of course, you can invest in expanding your Xbox storage with something like the Seagate Storage Expansion Card or the WD Black C50 Expansion Card for Xbox that leaked back in April, but they can get pretty pricey.
The proprietary nature of Xbox storage options is also a pain, meaning choices are limited and costs are high, so at last, almost three years into the current console generations, Microsoft is releasing the beefed-up version of its slimline console with the Carbon Black 1TB Xbox Series S is quite the upgrade, and the best part is that you get double the storage for a very reasonable price.
