A £1 million investment in a state-of-the art laser measurement system has been made by British Steel.
Forming part of a suite of patented technologies currently being developed, it will provide millions of dimensional readings on every bar rolled, ensuring products are made to world-leading tolerances.
It has been introduced at the Special Profiles business at the Skinningrove mill, where products are used in a wide range of demanding applications, including track shoes, forklift masts and cutting-edge profiles.
