The sun may be setting on Yellowstone, but 1923 season 2 is going to help the franchise live on. The long-awaited return of the prequel series for Taylor Sheridan's western franchise is finally set. 1923 is the third Taylor Sheridan-created series that focuses specifically on the Duttons, following the present day Yellowstone and 1883, which focused on characters 40 years prior to the events of 1923. 1923 was immensely popular when it was released back in 2022, so fans are likely excited that it is nearing a return.

1923 season 2 release date
1923 season 2 is set to premiere on Sunday, February 23, on Paramount Plus. That is almost two years to the day from when we got the 1923 season 1 finale, which aired on February 25, 2023.
Part of the reason for the big gap between seasons was the 2023 Hollywood strikes that shut productions down. It also doesn't help that creator Taylor Sheridan has a lot of stuff going on at once; just this fall he had Tulsa King season 2, Lioness season 2, the final batch of episodes of Yellowstone season 5 and Landman.
Either way, if you want to watch 1923 when it premieres you're going to need a Paramount Plus subscription. A subscription will also let you watch/rewatch the entire first season at your convenience.
If you are not a Paramount Plus subscriber but are interested in trying the series out, Paramount Network is going to be airing all of 1923 season 1 on Sundays starting December 8. To watch you will need access to the cable channel through a traditional pay-TV provider or live TV streaming service that carries it (Fubo, Hulu with Live TV, YouTube TV)
1923 season 2 cast
Hollywood legends Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren lead the 1923 cast as Jacob and Cara Dutton, the heads of the Dutton ranch at the time of the series; Mirren was nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance from season 1.
Making up the rest of the Dutton family in the prequel series are Brandon Sklenar (It Ends With Us) as Spencer Dutton, Julia Schlaepfer (The Politician) as his wife Alex, Darren Mann (Animal Kingdom) as Jack Dutton and Michelle Randolph (Landman) as Elizabeth Dutton.
Also returning for the new season are Brian Geraghty as Zane, Aminah Nieves as Teonna Rainwater, Jerome Flynn as Banner Creighton, Sebastian Roché as Father Renaud and Timothy Dalton as Donald Whitfield.
We have one new addition to the cast as well, as Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter: New Blood) has joined the show in an as yet unspecified role.
