Farion, a former nationalist parliamentarian and professor, was known for her stance against the Russian language, which led to a criminal investigation against her last year. She had expressed strong opinions regarding Russian-speaking members of the Armed Forces.

Her statements triggered controversy within Ukrainian society, reflecting the ongoing tensions in the region.
