PATNA: As many as 18 schools of Patna district won the 'National Clean School Award 2021-22'. District magistrate (DM) Chandrashekhar Singh handed over the prizes and certificates to headmasters or representatives of these schools at a function held at the collectorate here on Monday.
The schools were selected on the basis of cleanliness from classroom to toilet, behaviour and capacity development of children, work done for Covid control, maintenance, infrastructure and supply of potable water etc.
"These intuitions could win the prizes only due to strong commitment and continued efforts of their teachers and students. Teachers should help students develop an aptitude for cleanliness and hygiene in their surroundings. This should also be reflected in their behaviour," the DM said while speaking at the prize distribution event.
Singh pointed out that the main objective of initiating this award is to recognise excellence in the field of clean drinking water and cleanliness in schools. "Students should also be motivated to adopt local traditions and healthy practices for maintenance of cleanliness and purity in both rural and urban areas. Efforts should be made to help them inculcate Covid-19 appropriate behaviour as well. In fact, cleanliness should be their lifestyle in schools," the DM said.
District education officer Amit Kumar and all the education officers of the blocks concerned attended the function.
Schools which were awarded at the function included Kendriya Vidyalaya, IIT Patna; M S Taranagar Sikaria, Bihta; M S Gulam Alichak Bihta; T P H S Bihta; Kendriya Vidyalaya Bihta; Christopher Public School, Danapur; R P S Academy, Danapur; Kendriya Vidyalaya, Khagaul; D A V Public School Danapur; Gyan Niketan, Danapur; M S Karara Ghosvari; M S Daiyapur, Sampatchak; High School, Suitha, Phulwarisharif; M S Phulwarisharif; Christ Church School Khagaul; U M S Noorichak, Punpun; Aryabhatta Niketan, Danapur and Shaheed Ramanand High School Lakhna, Punpun.
