In one of the first matchups — and the first Big Ten game — of the 2022 college football season, Nebraska took on Northwestern across the pond at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland in what turned out to be a way more exciting game than anticipated (and it’s not because beer ended up being free for fans in attendance).
Although the Cornhuskers had double-digit leads twice in this game — first early in the second quarter and again early (ish) in the third — the Wildcats’ pushed through and locked up a 31-28 victory. Not great for Scott Frost.
They secured the win late in large part thanks to linebacker Xander Mueller picking off Nebraska quarterback Casey Thompson with less than 90 seconds left in the game.

Regardless of what you thought of this game, it’s still cool and weird to have American college football teams play at an international venue. So with that, here are some of the best photos from Northwestern’s victory in the season-opener against Nebraska.
