Aldi has announced it is looking to hire around 128 people in its warehouse just over the border in Leicestershire over the next 12 months. In a welcome boost to the local economy, the UK’s fifth-largest supermarket is also looking to fill transport and warehouse roles at its Regional Distribution Centre in Sawley.
The supermarket, which currently has more than 960 stores and employs around 38,000 people, is looking to expand its distribution, transport and maintenance teams at its 11 warehouses nationwide. The new jobs includes both full-time and part-time positions, with pay of up to £19.80 per hour.
The recruitment push forms part of Aldi’s nationwide expansion drive, with the supermarket expected to create 2,000 permanent roles across the UK this year. Those interested in applying for a career with Aldi can visit aldirecruitment.co.uk

Kelly Stokes, recruitment director at Aldi UK, said: “As we continue to grow and make Aldi accessible to even more shoppers, we need more amazing colleagues at our distribution sites across the country to make that possible.
“As well as market-leading pay and benefits, being an Aldi colleague means a great working environment and real opportunities to progress within the business. We look forward to welcoming even more great people to our Derbyshire distribution team to become a part of our success.”
The news comes as Aldi revealed it would be donating 700,000 meals to charities over the school summer holidays. The supermarket is pairing its stores up with local charities, foodbanks and community groups via community giving platform Neighbourly to donate surplus food, with at least half of the donations going to causes that support children.
Since the partnership with Neighbourly began in 2019, Aldi’s UK stores have already donated more than 25 million meals to over 3,600 local causes.
