MUMBAI: At 12 each, Maharashtra and Lakshadweep recorded the second most cases of seizure of marine wildlife while being illegally traded between 2015 and 2021, followed by 7 in Karnataka. Their numbers are significantly lower than Tamil Nadu's 123 which reported the highest seizure incidents during the six-year period.
The action by enforcement agencies involved illegal marine life trade of mostly sea cucumbers, followed by sea fans, seahorses and pipefish and seashells.
