On Sunday evening, Boris Johnson told the nation to “get boosted now”.
With evidence emerging that two jabs may not be enough to protect people against the latest variant, omicron, the prime minister made an appeal to the nation – which was then reiterated by leader of the opposition Keir Starmer– and said that he would be enlisting the support of the army to ensure anyone over the age of 18 could get their jabs by the end of the year.
Since his announcement, many vaccine centres have seen long queues form as people show they are willing to wait hours to get a dose of Pfizer in their arm at walk in centres, rather than book an appointment. Booking for under 30s opens tomorrow.
There have also been problems with the NHS website, which people say has been repeatedly crashing as they tried to book their jabs. The system was overwhelmed on Monday as over-30s became eligible to book their booster.
Here are 11 photos of queues at vaccine centres throughout the country from over the last couple of days.

A long queue but it all took less than an hour. Would highly recommend if you're waiting for an appointment!

Amazing to see so many people queuing up to get their booster jabs in Manchester this morning (must be a couple of hundred?) as all over 18s become eligible in England. If you had your second dose more than 3 months ago you can walk in or book online from this morning. pic.twitter.com/CaDNaStmgP

They say the British know how to queue, and we are really doing the stereotype proud for good reason.
