'Interestingly the role of the family room has evolved in recent years, with the rise of popularity of snugs and flexible kitchen/dining spaces, which include living areas for sofas and home bars,' she explains. 'As a result, the more traditional sitting room where the family would gather with friends, read the newspaper or listen to music has been somewhat restored as a flexible space for all the family to enjoy.'
