10-year-old girl seriously injured after being hit by car near school

A 10-YEAR-OLD girl has been seriously injured after being hit by a car near a school in West Lothian.

Emergency services were called to Avondale Drive near the junction with West Main Street in Armadale at around 8.40am on Thursday following reports that a 10-year-old girl had been hit by a grey Toyota Hilux car.

The girl was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People in Edinburgh, where her condition is described as serious but not life-threatening.

The road was closed for crash investigation work to be carried out by detectives and later reopened at around 2.20pm.

Inspector Thomas Mallinson: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are asking anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.

“Please also check any private CCTV or dash-cam footage you have to see if something has been captured to assist with our investigation.”
