1-foot boundary dispute leaves 77-year-old with £113,266 bill, £420k home sold

A dispute over a fence and roughly one foot of land between two neighbouring homes in Poole, Dorset, grew into a five-year legal battle that left 77-year-old Jenny Field facing a £113,266 bill. The original case was decided in favour of her neighbour, Pauline Clark, in 2022, but repeated attempts to challenge the judgment pushed the costs into six figures. The court ultimately ordered Field's £420,000 home to be sold to settle the debt.
