A rare archaeological discovery in western Denmark is giving researchers an unusually close look at clothing worn by a Viking-era woman more than 1,300 years ago. Textile fragments recovered from a young woman’s burial at Skonager, near Varde, have survived despite the poor conditions that normally destroy organic material in the region. The scraps were found attached to two distinctive bronze or silver brooches buried with her.
