Archaeologists have unearthed mummies of hairless dogs at an ancient burial complex in Peru, a discovery that offers the first evidence of such canines roaming across parts of South America over 1,200 years ago.
The mummified dog remains, with unusual skeletal features, also offer clues about what the animals ate and how they were treated by the people around them, according to a new study published in the Journal of Anthropological Archaeology.
