The price of a central London flat has barely changed since 2016, according to recent data from property portal Zoopla.
Flats in London’s innermost boroughs — namely Camden, Greenwich, Hackney, Hammersmith and Fulham, Islington, Kensington and Chelsea, Lambeth, Lewisham, Southwark, Tower Hamlets, Wandsworth and Westminster — command an average price tag of £471,975, almost exactly the same as they did seven years ago.
But in ‘real terms’ the figure represents a significant fall of 24 per cent.
Suggestions that such flats — many of which have no access to outdoor space — represent a relative bargain compared to central houses or homes outside of London fail to consider why they are being given the cold shoulder.
Suspect there’s still better value to be found on the fringes? We’ve selected a range of attractive Zone 3 homes priced less than the inner flat average, all with access to private or communal gardens.
