New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has announced a $2 million investment in the New York Aquarium’s Sea Cliffs Exhibit Renovation Project, bringing attention to the redevelopment of the marine wildlife attraction in Brooklyn. Mamdani announced the funding on his social media accounts, thanking those who hosted his visit to the aquarium. Sea Cliffs is an outdoor exhibit housing southern sea otters, sea lions, harbour seals and black-footed penguins. The investment comes against the backdrop of a wider city-funded construction project that has been in planning for years. New York City’s capital strategy lists $23.4 million for Sea Cliffs construction, although the relationship between the two funding figures remains unclear.
