Zinchenko, Odegaard, Ramsdale: Arsenal injury news and return dates ahead of Man Utd clash

Arsenal remain top of the Premier League following their fifth consecutive league win of the new season against Aston Villa on Wednesday evening.

Oleksandr Zinchenko, Thomas Partey, Mohamed Elneny and Reiss Nelson all missed that game, which needed a late Gabriel Martinelli winner following Gabriel Jesus' opener and Douglas Luiz's equaliser.

Up next are Manchester United, who have turned their fortunes around for the better after a rocky start under Erik ten Hag. However, Mikel Arteta's squad is expected to have a number of key absences due to injuries.

With the Gunners hoping to continue their fine league form, Arteta will want as many players available as possible to give his side the best possible chance of securing all three points at Old Trafford.

Here, football.london takes a look at the latest injury updates within the Arsenal squad.

Martin Odegaard and Aaron Ramsdale

Martin Odegaard picked up a knock to the ankle whilst Aaron Ramsdale felt a niggle in his leg against Aston Villa midweek. Odegaard was eventually substituted off and Ramsdale was able to continue.

"Those two are being assessed, we will see more tomorrow. Hopefully they will be able to train with the team," Arteta confirmed yesterday.

Oleksandr Zinchenko

Zinchenko had featured in every Premier League match for the Gunners since making the transfer switch from Manchester City. However, he has missed Arsenal's last two games due to injury.

football.london's Arsenal reporter, Kaya Kaynak, tells us that Zinchenko suffered a slight sprain to his left knee during last Friday's training session. As a precaution, he was left out of the matchday squad against Fulham and Aston Villa.

Mikel Arteta has confirmed Zinchenko will continue to be assessed but suggested he won't be available this weekend. "He missed two games and has not been able to train with the team yet," Arteta said.

Thomas Partey

Like Zinchenko, Partey had featured in every Premier League game for the Gunners leading up to the meeting with Fulham. However, he too missed that and the Villa match most recently.

Kaya has also reported that the Ghanaian has a tight right thigh from last Friday's training session, with Arteta expecting him to be out of action for at least a couple of weeks. "With Thomas (Partey), hopefully we are talking weeks or even shorter than that, I hope."

Mohamed Elneny

Mohamed Elneny is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury, football.london understands. The injury was sustained during the clash with Fulham, but the Egyptian carried on to play the full 90 minutes of the game.

The midfielder underwent scans the next day and Arteta has since confirmed that the results weren't good. "With Mo (Elneny) probably it is a little bit easier and we are talking months."

Reiss Nelson

Reiss Nelson suffered an injury problem in training early last month and is continuing his recovery process. The 22-year-old's last Arsenal outing was a year ago against Brentford.

"He felt something in training, we scanned him, and the doctor came with bad news," said Arteta. "It’s a muscular injury; hopefully, he will be back soon. (We don't know how long for) yet. They need to do another test."
