At the NAACP awards on Saturday and SAG awards last night, the star debuted a voluminous, layered chocolate bob, and it has immediately become the must-have haircut of 2023.
Alongside fans going crazy for it on social media, LookFantastic reports that Google searches for ‘Zendaya Bob’ have skyrocketed by 164% since Saturday and the circulation of the jaw-dropping snaps of the star.
Since Saturday, Zendaya has also made searches for ‘bob hairstyles’ skyrocket by a massive 250%, alongside searches for the ‘layered bob’ trend spiking by 60%.
Zendaya first revealed her shorter hair at the end of 2022, but it’s the first time it’s received the attention and spotlight it deserves and people are clearly here for it - including us.
Searches for chopped bob haircuts’ is also about to be one of the biggest emerging trends for 2023 - with searches for the term up by 550% this year alone.
The bob renaissance is being influenced by trend-setting stars like Jenna Ortega, Florence Pugh and Hailey Bieber, who have all gone in for the chop.
With the A-Lister seal of approval, it looks like 2023 really is the season of the bob!
Speaking to Ricky Walters, owner of Soho's Salon64, he said "The bob has long been a symbol of defiance and rebellion - for ladies feeling empowered when long hair just isn’t enough of a statement. Cut with loads of layers especially around the face, this bob is single handedly bringing sexy back.
Zendaya’s bob is absolutely no exception to this rule, but in fact the muse in which all other bobs will now take inspiration.
If you're thinking about going for the chop, opt for a longer length than your traditional bob - as this allows the wearer to add waves and curls, without the risk of shrinkage.
As with a few other hairstyles this year - we are starting to wave goodbye to a centre parting and instead see a swept over side parting with plenty of volume at the front."
Ricky went on to say "For anyone with a long, oval or heart shaped face, and you're fed up with conventional mumsy looking bobs? This one's for you!"
