Zara Phillips could join Mike Tindall on I'm A Celebrity for bridge reunion

Zara Phillips could jet out to Australia to join Mike Tindall after he was announced to be the first member of the Royal family to appear on I'm A Celebrity.... Get Me Out Of Here!

The Olympian, and the king's niece, could appear on the show when Mike wins or is evicted from the jungle.

It comes amid speculation that Zara is preparing to fly over to support her husband on the show, which insiders have suggested could be a "great moment".

Upon arriving at Brisbane airport yesterday, Mike remained tight-lipped over whether he had to get permission from the queen or king to appear on the ITV show.

After landing at the airport yesterday, the 44-year-old was asked: "Initial reports said you sought permission from certain members of the royal household, is that true?"

He replied: "It’s not something I need to tell you though is it."

Sources have told the MailOnline that there is speculation over whether Zara will be heading down under.

"There has been much talk about Zara flying out and people are fully expecting her to be there," an insider said.

"What a great scene that would be. Mike is the first royal to appear on I’m A Celeb so for Zara to be there when he comes out would be a great moment."

A spokesperson for the couple declined to comment on whether or not 41-year-old Zara would be going.

During Mike's chat as he walked through the airport, he revealed his biggest challenge on the show will be missing his kids and the risk of turning "hangry" on the jungle's infamous beans and rice diet.

He said: "It should be good fun, why not? It is always worth a go isn't it."

Australia has a place in the former England player's heart as it's where he met the Queen's granddaughter.

When he was asked how Zara would feel about him joining the camp mates, he said that he wouldn't have signed up if she was unhappy about it.

Mike has recently appeared on TV adverts (Getty Images)

Mike's £150,000 TV deal comes after he was criticised for starring in adverts for Domino's Pizza and Amazon Prime.

Eyebrows were raised after he advised pizza - after Prince Andrew's association with Pizza Express.

Just days after his Domino's advert aired, he appeared in a promotional video for Amazon Prime.

Mike, who has previously admitted that he's "always worried about money", and his wife both have a list of brand ambassadorships with big names like Land Rover and Rolex.

These are estimated to bring in more than £1million a year for the royals.
