Zara accused of going 'too far' over bizarre advert for summer crochet bag

Zara shoppers have decided the fashion chain has gone "too far" after they spotted a bizarre advert for one of their summer handbags online.

The Spanish high-street retailer is a fan-favourite among shoppers who want to pick up stylish outfits that reflect the latest high-fashion trends. And, while their outfits are usually fashionable, they have become known for their rather unusual advertising methods, which have often left shoppers in stitches.

Their unique advertising style has even led to a parody Instagram account - @awkwardzara - which manages to find the funny side in some of the brands quirkier campaigns, reports The Liverpool Echo. A quick look through the account highlights some of the brand's eccentric images, including ice-cream melting on shoes and a tomato wearing hoop earrings.

The most recent quirky advert to gain shoppers attention is one for a £30 crochet shoulder bag with knotted texture. The ad in question features the shoulder bag surrounded by various vegetables to create the illusion of a hand and face. Put it this way, it certainly manages to capture your attention.

Zara's crochet handbag comes available in mustard yellow, ecru white and pistachio green. The bag features an all-over crochet design and is complete with a shoulder strap. Captioning a carousel of Zara photos, @awkwardzara joked: "'therapist: “can you describe the dream to me using only the contents of your fruit + vegetable drawer?”' Followers and Zara fans alike took to the comments section to share their thoughts on the image.

Sheryl said: "This is going too far now". Liv said: "fever dream level 100".

Aimee said: "I mean none of it's necessary but wtf is that hand doing".

Other shoppers simply posted crying laughing emojis while some tagged their friends to direct them to the post. You can find your nearest Zara store here.
