Zander Clark calls for action to be taken after Hearts star struck by object in derby win over Hibs

Zander Clark has called on the hierarchy to take action after he was struck with an object during the Edinburgh derby.

The Hearts goalkeeper was left bloodied after he was pelted late on in the Jambos' 3-0 win over their city rivals at Tynecastle. It was a sour note on a perfect day for Robbie Neilson's recent recruit - who will be the main man between the sticks for the foreseeable future after a horror leg-break injury suffered by club captain and Scotland No1 Craig Gordon.

It was an afternoon to remember on the field for Hearts as they moved five points clear of Aberdeen in the race for third spot and European football next season. They have also played one game less than Jim Goodwin's men while they also seriously dented Hibs' own hopes of the top six and competing on the big stage next season. They are in eighth just four points above the relegation play-off position.

Away from the football, Clark wants to see the incident he was involved in eradicated from all levels of the game and wants the top brass at the clubs to take action to avoid similar scenarios from happening in the future.

Speaking to the BBC, he said: "I'm not sure what is was, it's one of those where there was plenty of them.

"It's one of those, people on the outside deal with that and see what happens. It's not nice, going back to get a drink of water and ending up with blood pouring out my head.

"Listen, I'm big enough and ugly enough to take it but hopefully the hierarchy do something about it because you don't want to see it in football.

"Players are paid to do a job and go out and try to put on an entertaining game on, which I thought we did, but you don't want objects being thrown. Not just here but at any level."
