A few players have already made names for themselves at Cincinnati Bengals training camp.
Buy Bengals TicketsBut those upswings for notable names tend to come from second-hand reports, as coaches aren’t prone to throwing their weight around on this sort of topic while players fight for spots on final rosters.
But it would appear wide receiver Kendric Pryor is a big exception.
Bengals head coach Zac Taylor himself called Pryor the “most improved player since the spring,” according to Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic.
Pryor, an undrafted fifth-year player out of Wisconsin, never really put up gaudy stats or had a chance to prove himself in an offense that didn’t highlight his strengths.
Clearly, Pryor’s benefitting from the offense in Cincinnati, which already saw him put up four catches for 89 yards and a score in the team’s first preseason game.
But for Pryor to get called out specifically by the head coach is a great sign, a highlight he could roll into two more strong preseason games before having a serious shot at the final roster.
Even if Pryor doesn’t make the final 53 at a stacked position, he’s clearly on his way to a spot on the practice squad, if not garnering interest from other teams.
