Adamant Richmond remain a "winning footy club", coach Adem Yze hopes his players have a bad taste in their mouths.
After yet another heavy defeat, you'd expect they would.
The Tigers are winless from seven games this season following their late fade-out in a 54-point defeat to Melbourne.
"We're disappointed. We don't want to expect to not play a four-quarter performance," Yze said after the 19.12 (126) to 11.6 (72) loss at the MCG on Friday night.
"What I do expect is our players to walk out of here with a bad taste in their mouth because we can't sustain it for four quarters.
"We're a winning footy club, we're not a losing footy club. We're not going to be happy with a competitive performance and our 'Tiger Army' expect more."
Bottom of the ladder, Richmond went within a kick of fellow battlers Carlton in their season-opener but have lost their last six games by an average margin of 59 points.
The Tigers have coughed up five triple-figure scores in that time and haven't managed more than 11 goals in a game all year.
The horror run has come amid an injury crisis which has taken a huge toll on the rebuilding side.
But Yze saw some positives in the performances of second-game Patrick Retschko and debutants Sam Cumming and Tom Burton against Melbourne.
"These young guys are getting exposure earlier than what they probably should, so when we start getting some troops back we feel like that will start to even out," Yze said.
Tim Taranto (concussion) is expected back for the clash with West Coast in Perth next week, as is Jayden Short, who missed the Melbourne loss after his pregnant wife went into labour.
"It's a tough game and we're going through a bit right now, but that put a smile on my face," Yze said.
"He's messaging me before the game saying that Maddy's gone into labour and he's going to have to miss a game and how flat he was.
"But it was just like, 'This is going to be the best day of your life. It will be ok, we'll get you back in next week.'
"It's so exciting for our footy club to have another little tiger cub coming into the world."
