Yves Bissouma can help Tottenham in ‘games where the team disappears mentally’, says Louis Saha

New Tottenham signing Yves Bissouma can help “during games where the team disappears mentally”, says Louis Saha.

The Mali international became Spurs’ third signing of the summer last week by sealing a £25m move from Brighton, signing a four-year-contract to follow Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster through the door.

Antonio Conte is keen on up to four more signings after receiving assurances from Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici of backing in the transfer market, with Bissouma seen as a coup at a relatively low price.

The 25-year-old will compete with Oliver Skipp, Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg for a starting berth, with Harry Winks a potetnial sale this summer.

Saha, speaking to Boyle Sports, believes Bissouma will help Spurs come through difficult games, helping develop more consistency across the board.

While Conte managed to find a run of form towards the end of the season as his side pipped bitter rivals Arsenal to fourth spot, the Italian had found consistency hard to come by during the early part of his tenure.

After beating Manchester City away, Spurs then lost to Burnley, a result that caused Conte to go as far as to question his future at the club.

The hope, however, is a full transfer window and pre-season under his watch will make Spurs a different beast going forward.

“Yves Bissouma is a terrific player and he can help with the balance of many aspects of the team and he can be a big asset to the club,” said Saha.

“He can play box-to-box football and help defensively as much as with the spells during games where the team disappears mentally.”
