Yung Filly to be retried for rape as new drug charge laid

  • British rapper Yung Filly, real name Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, will face a retrial in Australia after a jury failed to reach a verdict on three charges of sexual penetration without consent.
  • The 30-year-old entertainer was found guilty of two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm over bites to a woman's neck and breast following his initial eight-day trial in Perth.
  • Jurors acquitted Barrientos of the three rape counts, as well as separate charges of choking and assault which allegedly occurred in a hotel room in September 2024.
  • Australian prosecutors confirmed on Thursday that they will proceed with the retrial, which is set to be listed at the District Court of Western Australia on 25 September.
  • Barrientos also faces a fresh charge of possessing cannabis while on bail, with a court hearing scheduled for 1 September near Perth.
