YouTuber's appeal to find 'one of a kind' tricycle 'lost at Dublin Airport'

A YouTuber is begging for help in finding his 'one of a kind' tricycle he suspects is somewhere at Dublin Airport.

Matt Galat, also known as JaYoe, was on a journey from the Czech Republic to his home in Portland when his custom-built tricycle he had been using to get around Europe went missing. Matt - who has over 100,000 followers - got a Ryanair flight to Dublin and a WestJet flight to Calgary followed by another plane to Portland, where he lives.

Due to the size of his tricycle, he had to take it apart and put it in a cardboard box designed to fit the maximum size allowed on oversized luggage. There was "no problem" with the Ryanair flight as he landed in Dublin and got all his luggage.

Matt was going to miss his flight out of Dublin due to having to queue for long periods at check-in, oversize luggage, customs and security - until it was delayed. The last time he saw his tricycle was when he handed in to oversize baggage in Dublin Airport.

When he landed in Calgary, the box his tricycle was in was nowhere to be found. Airport staff eventually told him his box would be loaded onto the plane to Portland.

However, there was no sign of his bag at Portland either, and his airline WestJet couldn't tell him where his box was or even when it was last scanned because they don't scan oversized luggage. The tricycle has huge sentimental value to Matt, and he is so desperate to get it back that he has pleaded with anyone near Dublin Airport to go looking for the box.

In an emotional video to his followers, he said: "So, I am begging - friends, if you know somebody or are somebody in Dublin around the airport. Can you go to Dublin Airport and take a look around. I really hope it is not just sitting out at the baggage area but there were certainly tonnes of bags sitting out at the baggage area."

Matt kept on enquiring about his bags - despite being kept on hold for three hours and 40 minutes in instance - and eventually they told him his bags were likely at Dublin Airport as they were having trouble with left behind bags. Despite the occasional long-time on hold, Matt said everyone he spoke to enquiring about his lost box were "stellar".

He said he was told: "It is probably in Dublin. Everything is in Dublin. Dublin is having a big problem with baggage." There are reports that support his suspicions.

Dublin Live previously reported that Dublin Airport workers are so overwhelmed with panicked travellers arriving early that their luggage might be left behind. WestJet, who are responsible for luggage, said they were "sorry" about the lost tricycle and asked the box's details to look into it. Dublin Live provided them with the details.

WestJet's team in Dublin Airport are "making every effort to locate" Matt's lost tricycle. The Dublin Airport Authority declined to comment when contacted by Dublin Live.
