YouTube star Deji shows off three-stone weight loss ahead of Alex Wassabi fight

YouTube star Deji looked like a different man after weighing in around 37lb lighter for his boxing return.

The social media star will step back between the ropes on Saturday night when he faces fellow YouTuber Alex Wassabi in his third fight.

And he tipped the scaled at a career-low of 168lb, over 15lb down from his last weigh-in when he fought Tik Tok star and model Vinnie Hacker last summer in Miami.

But the Brit's weight loss was even more impressive after he confirmed to Mirror Fighting that he had engaged in a brutal water cut to make the 183lb that he weighed for his fight with Hacker.

He claims his weight on fight night was in the region of 205lb, meaning he lost more than two stone for his fight with Wassabi this weekend.

"Right now I'm around 77kg," Deji told Mirror Fighting ahead of the weigh-in.

"When I weighed in at 183lb, I refuelled and got up to 93kg, so I was around 205lb - that wasn't ideal.

"I'm not underestimating Alex Wassabi, I did that in my last two fights and I ended up losing, so I'm not going to underestimate any of his power.

"He may bring something to the table and we're going to see on Saturday night."

Deji feels that losing to Hacker, a fight he was considered a heavy favourite to win after a spirited debut performance against Jake Paul three years prior, was the best scenario for him.

He has since dropped his old training team and is working with Daley Perales in a training camp full of professionals, where he is pushed to his limits on a frequent basis.

"Honestly, I'm happy I lost," he admitted. "I wasn't taking it seriously and I wouldn't have learned.

"I would have carried on showing off and winging it and that wouldn't have been good.

"Ultimately, I'm here to box, my other two fights I was fighting on nerves against Jake and then I was immature and looking for an early knockout against Vinnie.

"This one I'm looking to box - I want to be taken into the deep end because a lot of people say my cardio is bad.

"I want to show what I've been doing, I want to box and in this sport one punch can change the whole fight and I'm out here trying to impress."

Deji feels his losses will have thought him enough about getting under the bright lights to guide him to a victory against Wassabi, who looked shredded on the scales and holds an advantage with height and reach.

"Nothing beats experience," he insisted. "Experience is the best teacher and ultimately it's going to benefit me.

"He doesn't know what the ring walk is going to be like."

Tickets are on sale now at showstarboxing.com and via AXS for Showstar Boxing 2022, which will be headlined by Deji vs Alex Wassabi.

If you're outside of the UK, you can watch the fight on PPV via the Showstar website for £6.99.
