YouTube star Deji earned less than £600,000 from fight with Floyd Mayweather

YouTube boxer Deji was paid just under £600,000 for his exhibition fight against boxing legend Floyd Mayweather.

The content creator stepped in the ring against former five-weight world champion Mayweather last November for an event run by Global Titans. Mayweather clowned around with Deji and eventually stopped him in the eighth round of the fight, but the YouTuber did manage to leave his mark on 'Money' by giving him a black eye.

Little has been heard from Global Titans since they hosted the Dubai event and Deji recently accused the promotion of not paying him for his fight against Mayweather. "Global Titans? Yeah they just fully disappeared," Deji said on his YouTube channel "They still owe me money, actually." The promotion have now responded to Deji's claims by posting an invoice of a payment made to Deji's management company for $662,000 (£528,000).

Happy Punch Promotions also claim that Deji received an upfront deposit for the fight, which took his total purse to $750,000 (£598,000). "Global Titans leak Deji’s alleged payment for his fight with Floyd Mayweather after he claimed they still owe him money. They also claim Deji received a deposit upfront, totalling $750k for the fight," the post read.

Deji labelled Mayweather as a "d***head" for clowning around in their fight but admitted the boxing legend is a good person deep down. "I enjoyed sharing the ring with Floyd Mayweather, that's enough payment in itself. I got to share the ring with a great, he was nice to me and took the p*** in the ring, but I still have so much respect for him. I think he is a solid guy, a d***head, but a solid guy," he said.

Mayweather has been on an exhibition tour since retiring from professional competition five years ago with a flawless record of 50-0. The 46-year-old will take on MMA fighter John Gotti III on June 11 in his latest money grab whilst Deji gets back in the ring next weekend against rapper Swarmz, who was stopped by Deji's brother KSI last August.

Deji said of his upcoming fight: "I'm not going to lie, Swarmz is looking good. He's in good shape, he's not bad. He called me out after his last fight, the one he won against Ryan Taylor. It only makes sense for me to honour his request and fight him. Co-main event of KSI's fight against Joe Fournier on May 13 I'll be facing Swarmz, so there's no more rumours."
