Youri Tielemans makes telling transfer admission amid Man Utd and Arsenal interest

Youri Tielemans has suggested that he will only quit Leicester for a "great project" amid interest from Manchester United and Arsenal.

The Belgian playmaker has been linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium this summer with his contract set to expire in just 12 months’ time. The Red Devils have been rumoured to be considering a move following the exits of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic.

Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta has prioritised a move for Tielemans during the upcoming window as he too aims to bolster his midfield options heading into the new campaign. It remains to be seen if or indeed when the pair make an attempt to sign the Belgian but ahead of any move, Tielemans has spoken on his decision and failed to rule out a switch this summer.

Speaking ahead of Belgium’s UEFA Nations League clash with Poland on Wednesday, he said: “That [a move] is not out of the question. But I can also stay.

“I feel very good at Leicester, I was welcomed with open arms from day one. I give everything for the club until the last day.

“But of course you have to listen to other opportunities, you have to look at your career, and sometimes you have to make choices. Maybe one will come my way.”

Tielemans then shed even further light on his future in an interview with Belgian outlet RTBF. He suggested that he was not set to seek a move away from Leicester for the sake of it and is instead focusing on his commitments with the Belgian national side for the time being.

“You need to stay calm. I’m good where I am,” he said. “I still have a year left on my contract. I’m not in a rush. When you change clubs, you don’t change just to change. You change because there is a great project on the table.

“For a player, the most important thing is to play. It’ll be up to me to make the right decision regarding my future this summer, but now, I’m relaxed and focusing on the Red Devils.”

Tielemans has of course been a terrific player under Brendan Rodgers at Leicester. Having initially caught the eye during a six-month loan spell from AS Monaco, the Foxes secured his services in a club record deal.

He has more than played his part in back-to-back pushes for the Champions League places, whilst he also scored the winning goal at Wembley Stadium to secure Leicester their first ever FA Cup against Chelsea last season. In all, Tielemans has accumulated 158 appearances for Leicester since his initial loan switch to the East Midlands.

Elsewhere, Real Madrid appear to have fallen out of the race to sign the 25-year-old having reportedly agreed a deal to sign Monaco wonderkid Aurelien Tchouameni.
