Your PIP payments could be stopped by DWP if you travel abroad this year

The Personal Independence Payments (PIP) you receive could be affected by travelling abroad this summer. It is one of the changes in circumstances you will need to tell the Department for Work and Pensions about.

While a change to your registered doctor, your name, or address will have no impact on your payments or eligibility for PIP, leaving the country or planning to leave the country for a time of more than four weeks, even for a holiday, may affect what your receive in benefits, the Daily Record reports.

Guidance from the DWP states: “This change may affect the claimant’s entitlement to PIP. We will need to know the date the claimant is leaving the country, how long they are planning to be out of the country, which country they are going to and why they are going abroad."
