Your Passport Can Be Years From Expiring and Still Not Be Valid for Travel

Passport
A passport may still have years before its printed expiration date but fail a destination’s entry requirements because of a three or six-month validity rule. Checking the rules before booking can help prevent denied boarding and costly travel disruptions. (Pexels).

You check your passport, see an expiration date two years away, and assume you are ready for your next international trip. That assumption can be surprisingly expensive because some countries require your passport to remain valid for several months beyond your planned stay. In other words, an unexpired passport is not necessarily a passport you can use to enter every country. Understanding passport validity rules before booking flights can help you avoid denied boarding, canceled plans, and potentially expensive last-minute changes.
