Your Child’s Social Life May Be One of the Most Expensive Parts of Parenting

Teens At The Mall
Birthday parties, extracurricular activities, gifts, meals and transportation can turn a child’s busy social calendar into a four-figure annual expense. Setting a dedicated social budget can help families protect both friendships and household finances. (Pexels).

Your child’s social calendar may look harmless one event at a time: a birthday party Saturday, soccer practice Tuesday, a movie with friends Friday. But add registration fees, gifts, uniforms, restaurant meals, rides, clothes and last-minute spending, and the cost of kids’ social activities can quietly become a serious household expense.
