A woman is looking to raise £1,500 towards a CT scan for her five-month-old pet rabbit after vets said that he should be put down.
Emma Whiteley, 22, was told to consider putting her beloved rabbit Yogi down if she is unable to get him treatment.
Yogi was first taken to the vets when he injured himself playing around the house, Hull Live reports.
He was given painkillers, but his condition sadly worsened after a few days.
Yogi has visited three different vets for X-rays and tests, but nobody has been able to determine the cause of his illness.
The once energetic rabbit is no longer playful and Emma, from Wakefield, is determined to do everything in her power to help Yogi get better.
“He’s five months old. He’s a little baby,” she said. “I’m more determined to do more for him, he’s not even had his first birthday.
“I can’t imagine my life without him even though I’ve had him for a few months.
“We have another rabbit (Peppa) who is eight weeks old, they adore each other. I walked in one day, they sat together. He had his paw around her, it looked like they were hugging each other.
“I can’t imagine what it will be like for her without Yogi, they’re inseparable. She used to annoy him but her personality has changed to meet his needs as well.
“She can sense when he’s feeling uncomfortable or needs her.
“If there’s a chance he can get better, I don’t know how I would feel (if he was put down) knowing I could have done more.”
She added that because Yogi is not well, Peppa has been helping to clean him.
Emma, who works as a surveyor, has had to adjust her work schedule so she can stay home and look after her rabbit.
She has now been visiting vets in Ilkley in the hopes they will be able to help him.
Writing on GoFundMe, she said: “He has deteriorated over the past few weeks with no explanation and we need answers. He has gone from a loving, happy, energetic bunny to not being able to hop properly and play like a normal bunny.
“We have had X-Rays and tests from 3 different Veterinary Clinics but the only thing that can help Yogi get the treatment he needs is by having a CT scan.
"The vet said if we can’t get the CT scan we would need to consider putting Yogi to sleep but this can’t be an option. I would do anything to help Yogi get better and desperately need your help.”
