A woman in her 20s was arrested at Dublin Airport on Monday after officers found a substantial amount of illegal drugs in her possession.
The woman had arrived in Ireland on a flight from Lisbon before the discovery was made.
Officers intercepted the passenger, searched her baggage, and discovered three kilograms of cocaine.
The estimated worth of the narcotics found is estimated at €210,000.
The woman was arrested by gardai and is detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Ballymun Garda Station.
This seizure was part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the importation of drugs.
In a statement released this afternoon, a Revenue spokesperson confirmed: “Yesterday (24/01/2022), as a result of routine profiling, Revenue officers seized 3 kgs of cocaine with an estimated value of €210,000 at Dublin Airport.
“The illegal drugs were discovered when Revenue officers stopped and searched the baggage of a passenger who had disembarked from a flight from Lisbon, Portugal.
“A woman in her 20’s was arrested by An Garda Siochana and detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Ballymun Garda Station.”
Investigations are ongoing.
