Tributes have been paid to a "loved" and "passionate" young chef after he died suddenly. Ross McComish, from Lanark, has been working in the food industry for several years and the talented cook had been working at The Gannet in Glasgow's Finnieston.
Last night, the popular restaurant shared the tragic news that Ross had passed away earlier this week. Friends, family and colleagues have been left devastated by the news of the "one in a million" chef's shock death.
The Gannet paid tribute to the rising star, who previously studied mathematics at University of Strathclyde. They posted: "Yesterday we received the devastating news that our friend & colleague Ross McComish has passed away. During the time Ross spent with us he endeared himself with his charm, quick wit and was loved by all.
"It’s incredibly sad to see such an enthusiastic chef with a passion for our industry, his whole life & career ahead of him taken so soon. Our thoughts go out to his family at this difficult time. He will be dearly missed by all here at The Gannet."
The tragic post was flooded with comments, including from Ross' heartbroken family. His brothers, Jack and Euan McComish, hailed the fine dining restaurant for its statement.
Euan said: "Thank you for taking care of him he was one in a million and loved working with you all! Love you big bro." Jack added: "Thank you for looking after my wee bro, he was in the happiest place to cook as a chef and be loved too."
Ross' dad, Gordon, said his son loved his time at the restaurant. "Thank you for your kind words," he said. "He loved working with you all and was learning so much from Chef." Mum Anna shared The Gannet's tribute to Ross, adding a heartbroken emoji alongside the post.
Friends and family left their own heartfelt words, with one saying: "Such a lovely photo of a lovely young man. Our hearts are broken for you."
"Hard to believe this Anna … what a beautiful smile," another added. "Devastated for you all." While one loved one said: "There are no words. Life will never be the same again! Wee Rossco."
