A motorbike rider has been seriously injured following a smash in Ayrshire late last night.
The 26-year-old crashed on the northbound carriageway of the A78 near Kilwinning at around 9.10pm.
Emergency services raced to the scene and the rider was rushed to Crosshouse Hospital with a serious injury.
The road was closed for almost two hours while crash investigations took place at the scene and the route was reopened at 10.45pm.
Sergeant Gordon Stewart, of Ayrshire Road Policing Unit, said: “Our enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.
“I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened to get in touch. Also anyone with relevant dash-cam footage is asked to contact police.
“Anyone with information should call 101, quoting incident number 3577 of February 22, 2023.”
