A young man was pulled from his car in Dublin on Friday afternoon in broad daylight.
The motorist, aged in his 20s, was dragged from his vehicle in west pier carpark in Dun Laoghaire at 5:30pm.
It’s understood he managed to get the keys form the car and those involved fled from the scene on foot.
Gardaí quickly responded and a male in his mid-20s was apprehended and arrested in connection with the incident.
A spokesperson said: "He was taken to Dun Laoghaire station and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 for questioning. He has since been released without charge pending further enquires.
"A file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
