A man has been arrested after gardai seized a firearm in Co Kildare.
The seizure was made as part of an ongoing investigation into organised criminal activity in the Kildare and Dublin regions.
It was conducted by the Eastern Regional Garda Units, Dublin Regional Garda Units, and the Leixlip Detective Unit on Saturday, April 2, 2022.
Officers pulled over a car in Kilcock and following a search a double-barrel sawn-off shotgun was found.
The man driving the car - in his 20s - was arrested and brought to Leixlip Garda Station for questioning.

He has since been charged and will appear before the courts on Monday.
The firearm has been sent for ballistic and forensic examination and investigations are ongoing.
A statement released by An Garda Siochana this evening confirmed: “Gardaí have seized a firearm and arrested and charged one man following an operation in Co. Kildare targeting organised criminal activity.
“As part of ongoing investigations into organised criminal activity in the north Kildare and Dublin area, an intelligence-led operation was conducted by Eastern Regional Garda Units, Dublin Regional Garda Units, and the Leixlip Detective Unit on Saturday, 02 April 2022.
“In the course of the operation, a car was stopped and searched in the Kilcock area. A double-barrel sawn off shotgun was recovered from the car.
“The sole occupant of the car, a man in his 20s, was arrested and detained at Leixlip Garda Station under section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939, for questioning.
“The man has since been charged and is expected to appear before a sitting of Naas District Court on 04 April 2022 in connection with this investigation.”
