Young Edinburgh mum quits Starbucks job to chase dream of being a top lawyer

An Edinburgh barista is on her way to carve out an exciting career in law after being awarded a prestigious scholarship.

Jo MacLeod, 27, has been granted the Kirk Murdoch Scholarship, which was set up in memory of the respected lawyer and business leader. The mum-of-one is currently a third year law undergraduate at Edinburgh Napier University and is the fourth recipient of the scholarship named after Pinsent Masons’ former Scotland chairman who passed away in 2017.

After leaving school, Jo worked in a number of retail jobs after leaving school but gave up her full-time Starbucks position to return to college obtain an HND in legal studies and follow her dream.
