A dad was given 14 months longer to live - and see his young son born - after his tumour started to grow outside of his skull. Mike Hawthorn was told by medics he had a grade two meningioma following a routine eye exam when he was 26.
The tumour began seeping through a crack in his skull after surgery in April 2021 failed to fuse it back together. As it began to grow outside of his skull, pressure on his brain began decreasing.
According to Wales Online, the doctors told Mike the development meant he would get 14 months more than expected. During that time his wife fell pregnant and had a baby on March 6, 2022.
