Bull spotted on Glasgow train platform after escaping from field

An unusual passenger was spotted by CCTV cameras waiting for a train at a Glasgow station on Monday evening.

ScotRail’s normal customers are of the two-legged variety, but this four-legged beast had clearly had enough of chomping on grass in the nearby fields and decided it needed a night on the town – as it waited patiently at Pollokshaws West station, a couple of stops before Glasgow Central.

Like all good commuters, this young bull was even seen apparently looking at the timetable to see when the next train was arriving.

But eventually, after at least 20 minutes, the intrepid bovine traveller had other ideas and trotted off back to where he came from, presumably miffed at the lack of trains running that night. Even farm animals seem to get frustrated by the nation’s public transport.

ScotRail revealed the bull was not traumatised by the experience of waiting so long for a train that didn't come, revealing: “A few of you have asked if the wee MooMoo is all right. Here’s what Clare from our CCTV team replied when I asked.

“‘He came in, ate some plants, had a wee wander, licked his reflection in the shelter and made his way back to the field’. Golden!”

Twitter wags were quick to come up with some humorous responses to the image of the cow waiting on the platform. One said: “Was he a regular co’moo’uter or was he on holiday, ie, did he have a wee-calf?”

Another follower added: “Should be a cheap journey, calf fare." And someone else penned: “Is it on the ‘Highland’ line?”
