A young British charity worker has gone missing in Ukraine and is feared kidnapped by Russian forces after he travelled to the war zone to rescue women and children. Dylan Healy, 22, was reportedly captured by Russian forces along with fellow charity worker Paul Urey.
The pair were helping with the 'high risk evacuation' of women and children from Zaporizhzhia in south Ukraine, according to an NGO boss. Dylan, from Cambridgeshire, shared fundraising appeals on Facebook this month to buy an emergency evacuation vehicle.
He wrote on April 16: "At the moment [fundraising] is for another vehicle to enable us to evacuate more people at a time but the fundraiser will continue and will be updated to what the needs would require at that stage." Dylan is believed to have been in Ukraine for at least six weeks.
He commented on Facebook six weeks ago that he was "on base already". This was in reference to an earlier post on March 15 stating: "Well I made it this far, now to get to Ukraine".
Dominic Byrne, founder of humanitarian charity Presidium Network, told the BBC that two volunteers were captured by Russian troops while trying to cross a checkpoint into Russian territory. It is understood the pair weren't working for Presidium Network but were in touch with the NGO.
