'You've GOT to listen': Holyrood erupts as Tories 'behave badly'

JOHN Swinney was left fuming with Scottish Tory MSP Craig Hoy for continually interrupting during FMQs.

The First Minster had been questioned on Scottish Government cuts to universal fuel payments.

During Swinney's reply to Ross, Hoy, who is also serves as chair of the Scottish Tories, could be heard shouting at the First Minister.

Swinney said: “Why are you still shouting at me, Mr Hoy?

“You’ve got to listen to the Presiding Officer and stop behaving badly.”

Prior to this, Presiding Officer Alison Johnstone had already intervened to tell MSPs to stop interrupting during answers to questions.

She told Swinney: “I can assure the First Minister that I am wholly prepared to chair this meeting.

“I will not have any members shouting at one another so let’s start to conduct ourselves in an appropriate manner for this Parliament.”

Following FMQs, Hoy took to Twitter/X to explain why he had been shouting at the First Minister.

He said: "I was shouting on behalf of the 900,000 Scottish pensioners who are being robbed of their Winter Fuel Payment as a direct result of the actions of the Labour and SNP governments.

"No answer from Mr Swinney of course."
