'You're going to make me cry' - Bruno Guimaraes' touching moment with Chris Wood after Newcastle win

Newcastle United duo Chris Wood and Bruno Guimaraes enjoyed a touching moment after the Magpies ran out 3-0 winners over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium. The former netted the opening goal of the game but it was the latter who picked up the Man of the Match award after helping himself to an assist for Miguel Almiron's goal.

Guimaraes enjoyed another fine performance in front of the travelling Geordie faithful who chanted his name throughout the 3-0 victory. The Brazilian is clearly enjoying his football and the love he receives from Newcastle supporters.

His team-mates clearly love him too, with Wood waxing lyrical about the midfielder in his post-match interview, almost making Guimaraes tear up in the process.

"He's quality," Wood said of Guimaraes on Amazon Sport. "His quality is becoming our normal which is scary because he's that good. So we're thankful to have him. He's a fantastic player and he always the difference maker. That's the best thing about it.

Guimaraes smiled before replying: "You're going to make me cry, my friend. Thank you so much."

The former Lyon midfielder continues to go from strength to strength under Eddie Howe and paid tribute for his award on social media after the game. "I think all these guys deserved this trophy!" Bruno tweeted.

"Thanks for making me happy and feel at home boys! I'm proud to be part of this unbelievable group."

The emphatic win sees Newcastle up to second as talk turns to whether the club can maintain a title tilt in second-half of the season. Emile Heskey, who was on punditry duty alongside Shay Given for the game, says fans can start dreaming of silverware and a crack at the league title after a huge win on the road.

"They’ve definitely got reason to get carried away," Heskey said. "Sitting second in the league at this moment in time and playing the way they are playing, they were so aggressive and everyone plays the same way so they all know when to press, when not to press, how hard to press. Intensity is key to that, and they were fantastic tonight."
